S Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, will visit Pakistan on October 15 and 16 to attend the Council of Heads of Government (SCO-CHG) meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
A spokesman for the Indian foreign ministry, Randhir Jaiswal, stated, “The external affairs minister will lead our delegation to Pakistan to participate in the SCO summit which will be held in Islamabad on October 15 and 16.” Jaiswal did not, however, specify whether Jaishankar would meet any Pakistani leaders outside of the summit.
This will mark the first visit to Pakistan by an Indian foreign minister in almost ten years.
Citing a spokesman for the Indian external ministry, Indian journalist Umashankar Singh confirmed to News that Jaishankar would attend the SCO conference in the federal capital of Pakistan.
