ISLAMABAD: In light of the anticipated heavy rainfall throughout the state, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Tuesday issued an urban flooding warning for Karachi, Hyderabad, and other districts of Sindh.
In the next 12 to 24 hours, Kashmore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Umerkot, Badin, Mithi, Tharparkar, and surrounding areas can expect sporadic showers, windstorms, and thunderstorms, according to the government agency.
The precipitation may cause medium-level overflows in nullahs and localized urban flooding, endangering the lives of those who live in low-lying areas.
In addition, the NDMA has instructed local governments and provincial disaster management offices to keep a careful eye on the situation and take the necessary precautions to protect the population that is in danger.
The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) has warned that there is a probability of rain and thunderstorms in the nation’s financial center today, coinciding with the authority’s warning.
The Met Office predicts that the current monsoon activity will have an impact on the weather in the upcoming days.
“Met Office informed that more monsoon currents are likely to penetrate from the Arabian Sea in upper parts of the country from 10th July,” according to the most recent meteorological report.
