The choice was made as KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other senior officials were debating the 40-member jirga’s 16 demands. The meeting that started on Monday night and went until the wee hours of Tuesday.
The president of the jirga, Nasir Khan Bangash, told Dawn that although all of their demands had been granted by the provincial government, the jirga members asked that the matters be brought before the provincial apex committee and their consent sought. He announced that the meeting of the apex committee will take place on Thursday, and that the province administration had approved this.
In addition, KP Chief Minister Gandapur will visit the district on Friday, and five jirga members would be present at the meeting of the upper committee.
