Senator Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, stated on Tuesday that the federal government has not yet decided whether to outlaw the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government decided to upend the party founded by Imran Khan by outlawing it and filing charges of high treason against Imran Khan, Arif Alvi, and Qasim Suri, the three main PTI founders, in preparation for the National Assembly’s dissolution in April 2022.
Dar highlighted during a news conference in Lahore today that Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar had made it quite apparent the day before that the government would consider the PTI ban and make a decision.
