According to figures issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), abroad Pakistanis remitted an astounding $2.94 billion in August 2024, marking a 41% increase compared to the same month previous year. This represents a substantial boost to Pakistan’s economy.
This increase in remittances emphasizes how important Pakistani expats are to the economy of their nation of origin.
According to the SBP data, Pakistani laborers sent $5.9 billion in total between July and August of 2024, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to bolstering the country’s financial stability.
Pakistanis residing in the country sent $713 million to Saudi Arabia in August alone, making the nation the top recipient of remittances.
The United Kingdom contributed $475 million, and the United Arab Emirates came in second with $540 million.
