A First for Paris Fashion Scene
Paris hosted its Modest Fashion Week bringing together nearly 30 designers from different countries. The event showcased clothing styles that many Muslim women choose for religious reasons. These designs cover arms, legs and sometimes hair while still offering fashion.
The location was meaningful. France has a Muslim population and debates around religious clothing often appear in public discussion. Around 5 to 7.5 million Muslims live in the country. Organizers see Paris as a fashion hub for modest style in Europe.
Designers Bring Culture and Identity to the Runway
Designers used the runway to share cultural ideas through clothing. Fatou Doucouré said showing her work in Paris sent a message that women who wear head coverings can take part in all areas of society. Modest fashion is important for her.
Rukaiya Kamba of Nigerian label Flaunt Archive chose Paris on purpose. She wanted her collection to reach an audience in a city known for fashion influence. Modest fashion week in Paris is an opportunity for her.
Models walked in flowing outfits, floral prints and soft color palettes. The designs included boxy streetwear inspired shapes and elegant dresses that moved easily on the runway. Modest fashion designs were on display.

Inside Hôtel Le Marois near the Champs Élysées collections focused on themes. Designers used florals, soft greens, deep reds, teals and ocean inspired blues. Modest fashion designers love these colors.
