Overview
Pope Leo finished his visit to Equatorial Guinea. He talked about justice, human rights and prisons. He told leaders to change how they punish people. Instead they should help people get better and be treated with dignity.
The Pope met with prisoners people who suffered in the past and many citizens.
Prison Visit in Bata
The Pope went to a prison in Bata. Many prisoners were there to meet him in the rain. They were emotional and happy to see him.
He told them to stay hopeful. He said their families and communities have not forgotten them.Some groups have said that the prison is not good. The government says that is not true.
Message on Justice and Human Dignity
Pope Leo said justice should not just punish people. He also talked about how hard life’s for many prisoners.
Government Response
The government does not agree with the Popes comments. The Justice Minister said prisoners are treated fairly and that the country follows human rights rules.

The Pope also honored people who died in a military base explosion in 2021.
He then spoke to a crowd at a stadium in Bata. He talked about fairness and respect for citizens.
He also led a religious service with national leaders and many people. Then he ended his visit, in the capital city Malabo.
