On Wednesday, Mark Zuckerberg’s company Meta informed a number of news organizations that it had contributed $1 million to the inaugural fund of US President-elect Donald Trump.
This donation comes after the 78-year-old president-elect and the 40-year-old CEO of Meta met recently at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, suggesting an attempt to patch up their long-tense relationship.
According to Forbes, the Wall Street Journal was the first to report on this development, stating that Zuckerberg’s team had communicated their plans to Trump’s inaugural committee before to the dinner.
Meta confirmed to the Journal that it had made the donation without providing any additional details about why it chose to do so.
According to the Federal Election Commission, corporations can contribute to inaugural committees without limits.
