A shooting at a salsa festival on St Clair Avenue in Toronto has left two people dead and several others injured. Police responded to reports of an active shooter at around 20:12 local time, when thousands of people were attending the street event.
Officers arrived at the festival area and found six people suffering from gunshot wounds. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while others were taken for medical treatment.

Toronto police said the incident involved an exchange of gunfire between two individuals. Investigators recovered two firearms from the area and are working to determine what led to the shooting.

Deputy Police Chief Francisco Barredo described the situation as extremely chaotic. He said around 13,000 people were at the festival when the shooting happened.
