Defense Minister Khawaja Asif cautioned the former ruling party on Saturday against any agitation ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy, ruling out “negotiations or surrender” on issues pertaining to the nation’s integrity and honor, as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares to start a new protest movement against the current government.
Speaking to reporters in Sialkot, the minister declared, “Protests are being carried out to disrupt the Champions Trophy […] there will be no negotiation or surrender on matters related to our integrity, defense, honor, and dignity.”
The comments were made as the beleaguered PTI staged protests on Saturday to mark a “black day” in opposition to purported election-rigging in the general election from the previous year.
PTI leaders Dalir Meher, Zahid Bahar Hashmi, and Meher Bano Qureshi were at Multan.
