Since there is a good chance that the moon for the holy month of Ramadan will be visible on March 1, Pakistan is expected to observe the first day of fasting on March 2.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Monday that the new moon is expected to be born on the evening of February 28 at 5:45 p.m., which will increase the likelihood of seeing the crescent on Saturday, March 1.
In accordance with custom, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would meet on Sha’ban 29 to receive and evaluate reports of moon sightings and to declare any sightings. At that time, zonal committees would assemble in their respective domains.
To determine the start of the ninth Islamic month, clerics from all philosophical traditions would gather at the central huddle.
