LAHORE: Following a deadly attack on tourists across the disputed border, hundreds of Pakistanis joined protests nationwide on Thursday, including in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), to express their anger against Indian threats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Pakistan of facilitating “cross-border terrorism” and pledged to hunt down and punish the terrorists who killed 26 civilians in the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam on Tuesday.
Targeting civilians rather than Indian security troops was a significant change in the attack that was the bloodiest in 25 years in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“If India wants to go to war, then come forward openly,” merchant Ajmal Baloch told AFP during a seven hundred-person demonstration organized by a religious party.
