According to reports on Monday, the federal government has stepped up diplomatic efforts to protect Pakistani exports from more US tariffs and has decided to send a high-level team to Washington within the next 24 hours.
In order to stop the proposed 29% tariff on Pakistani goods from being imposed, the delegation, led by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, will negotiate with the Trump administration. The minister will be accompanied by important representatives from the Foreign Office, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Commerce to facilitate the talks.
According to sources, Pakistan is working to rectify the $3 billion trade imbalance that now favors it. Islamabad has suggested raising imports to $2 billion in order to balance the situation and lessen pressure from Washington.
