On Monday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah affirmed that the disagreement over the building of additional canals had been settled peacefully after high-level talks between the federal and provincial authorities.
Shah thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for considering Sindh’s issues and providing a thoughtful response in a statement to the media following the CCI meeting. “I am thankful to the prime minister for recognizing the sensitivity of the canal issue,” he stated.
The chief minister disclosed that he attended the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, whereby it was decided that no new canal project will move forward without provincial agreement.
