Iran’s foreign minister announced that the Islamic republic and the United States will meet in Rome on Saturday for a fourth round of negotiations on the Islamic republic’s nuclear program.
Three rounds of negotiations have been held between the longtime rivals in an attempt to reach an agreement on the program, which Tehran disputes and which the West claims is meant to produce nuclear weapons.
Oman is mediating the negotiations, which started on April 12 and represent the two sides’ highest level of communication in years.
“The next round of negotiations will take place in Rome,” Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared following Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.
According to the top diplomat, representatives from Britain, France, and Germany—all signatories to the 2015 nuclear agreement—will also meet with Iranian officials on Friday.
