An 84-inch-diameter pipeline broke, flooding most of Karachi and burying around 60% of the University of Karachi (KU) campus, causing a significant disruption in the city’s water supply.
Without any formal notice, academic activities were essentially suspended when water flooded the university’s residential colonies. The situation is also causing significant water shortages in several city regions.
Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, CEO of Water Corporation, inspected the ongoing repairs at the impacted pipeline location inside KU. The spokeswoman stated that the CEO directed officials to guarantee prompt completion of the repair operation after evaluating its pace, quality, and logistical arrangements.
