82 PTI employees who entered guilty pleas to charges in the violent demonstration case from November 26 were given four months in prison and a Rs15,000 fine apiece by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Friday.
The goal of the demonstration on November 26, 2024, was to increase pressure on the government to free the PTI founder. Since his removal from office in April 2022 due to the opposition’s no-trust motion, the 71-year-old cricket player-turned-politician has been imprisoned since August 2023 after being charged with several offenses ranging from terrorism to corruption.
At least three Rangers members and a police officer were martyred in violent battles between the protestors and law enforcement that terminated the former ruling party’s three-day demonstrations suddenly.
