SIALKOT: According to family sources, Senator Professor Sajid Mir, the central president of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees, died on Saturday at the age of 86.
The sources claim that Mir passed away after a heart attack. Born in Sialkot on October 2, 1938, the preacher finished his schooling at the University of the Punjab in Lahore.
Professor Mir was a member of the upper chamber of parliament from 1994 to 2000 before serving as a senator continuously from 2003 to 2025. On a ticket from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he was elected to the Senate.
He was the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology in addition to being the central president of the Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees.
