Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining and advancing a free and responsible press in Pakistan.
They praised media professionals worldwide, including those in Pakistan, for their sacrifices and efforts in the fight for the truth in their individual statements on World Press Freedom Day.
According to President Zardari, the media is essential for fostering discourse, drawing attention to social, economic, and environmental issues, exposing corruption, and standing up for the underprivileged.
He recognized the courage and dedication of journalists who have sacrificed their lives while seeking the truth, particularly while covering war areas like Gaza and Palestine, and paid tribute to their efforts.
