London’s Metropolitan Police announced on Sunday that eight men, seven of whom are Iranian nationals, had been taken into custody by Britain’s counterterrorism police in two different investigations.
Five males, including four Iranian nationals between the ages of 29 and 40, were arrested on suspicion of terrorism offenses on Saturday in connection with a plot to target a certain location. The fifth man’s nationality is yet unknown.
According to police, officers made the arrests in Swindon, west London, Stockport, Rochdale, and Manchester. They also stated that they were in communication with the suspected target’s location to offer pertinent assistance. Citing operational reasons, they declined to offer any other location information.
