A troubling wave of disinformation and digitally manipulated content has surfaced on Indian social media in the wake of the deadly attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which has heightened diplomatic tensions between Pakistan and India. Much of this content aims to mislead, provoke, and obscure the truth.
In addition to intensifying geopolitical tensions, the Pahalgam incident last month that killed 26 tourists also led to a spike in artificial intelligence-generated imagery and bogus news.
