India’s demand that Pakistan’s nuclear assets be placed under international control has been categorically rejected by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, who has described the proposal as “ridiculous” and politically driven.
The defense minister reassured the people and the international community that Pakistan’s nuclear program is completely secure and appropriately managed in an exclusive interview with TV.
Asif made reference to India’s recent demand that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) oversee Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, saying, “If someone makes such demands, it clearly reflects their own agenda.”
The IAEA itself recently released a statement restating its trust in the security and integrity of Pakistan’s nuclear assets, Khawaja Asif noted.
