On Wednesday, May 28, the Sindh government formally proclaimed the day a public holiday in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, the anniversary of Pakistan’s historic 1998 nuclear tests.
All government offices in Sindh, including provincial departments, autonomous organizations, and local municipal councils, will be closed on the occasion, the chief secretary announced in a statement on Monday.
In keeping with the government’s decision, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has also declared that it will observe the national holiday by suspending trade on May 28.
The PSX notified all relevant parties in an official notification released on Monday that the shutdown was in accordance with the national holiday that the Pakistani government had designated.
