RAWALPINDI: Amid internal strife, imprisoned Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced on Tuesday that he would become the party’s patron-in-chief. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan will remain the party’s chairman.
The party’s launch of a statewide protest campaign to overthrow the coalition government led by the PML-N and recover its “stolen mandate” prompted the action. The proposed protest date has not yet been announced by PTI.
“PTI founder says he himself will lead the protest movement,” PTI Chairman Gohar told reporters following his meeting with Khan at Central Jail Adiala in Rawalpindi today.
