Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has warned that if New Delhi follows through on its threats to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), the possibility of a nuclear conflict between Pakistan and India is a “reality.” He calls such actions “water terrorism” and an act of war that needs to be withdrawn right away.
In response to the insurgent attack in the Pahalgam region of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22, India unilaterally suspended the IWT.
He stated, “India and Pakistan are bound by the terms of IWT… India will have to take back and withdraw its threat,” at a press conference held at the Pakistan High Commission at the end of his two-day London tour.
