WASHINGTON: Asif William Rahman, a former CIA analyst, was found guilty of illegally keeping and sending Top Secret National Defense Information to unauthorized recipients. The information was made public on social media in October 2024. Rahman was sentenced to 37 months in prison for this offense.
Court filings state that Rahman, 34, of Vienna, Virginia, had been working for the CIA since 2016 and had access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) through a Top Secret security clearance until his employment was terminated following his arrest.
According to certain media stories, Rahman was raised in Ohio but was born in California. After Tehran launched a missile attack on Israel on October 1, he allegedly disclosed classified information regarding Israeli plans to attack Iran.
