ISLAMABAD — Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has warned that the country will have no choice but to go to war if India tries to cut off Pakistan’s water supply.
“Pakistan faces an existential threat from such acts… In an interview with the German news agency Urdu, he declared, “Water is our lifeline, and we will never relinquish our rightful share under any circumstances.”
He was alluding to the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), which India unilaterally suspended following the attack in the Pahalgam region of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22.
