DEHRADUN: According to officials, a helicopter carrying Hindu pilgrims from a shrine crashed in the Himalayas on Sunday, killing seven people, including a toddler.
The tragic incident occurs as family members grieve the loss of at least 279 lives when a passenger airliner crashed into a residential neighborhood in Ahmedabad, western India, on Thursday.
Disaster response official Nandan Singh Rajwar told AFP that the pilot and all six passengers were killed after their helicopter crashed when they were flying from the Kedarnath temple in the state of Uttarakhand.
Following the “very sad news,” rescue crews were sent to the scene, according to Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state’s chief minister.
Rahul Chaubey, the district tourism officer, stated that inclement weather was probably the reason of the crash.
