NEW DELHI: In the most recent mishap to hit the airline in recent days, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner headed for New Delhi was forced to return to its Hong Kong origin as a precaution on Monday after a potential technical problem was discovered in mid-air.
Due to a technical problem, AI315 “returned to Hong Kong shortly after takeoff.” A statement from Air India stated, “The flight landed safely… and is undergoing checks as a matter of abundant precaution.”
The event occurs days after a similar Boeing aircraft was used on an Air India flight to London, which crashed in Ahmedabad, western India, shortly after takeoff, killing 241 of the 242 persons on board.
