Following a phone conversation with the Russian leader, Trump stated: “President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”
In a social media tweet, Trump cautioned that the over one-hour phone conversation would not “lead to immediate peace” between Russia and Ukraine.
The two leaders also spoke about Iran, with Trump claiming that Putin had offered to assist in nuclear negotiations with the nation.
