Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan stated on Saturday that 26 members of the opposition benches would be suspended for causing chaos, screaming, sloganeering, and document tearing in the assembly, a significant step against the MPs’ unruly behavior.
At all costs, the House’s sanctity and order will be upheld. In reference to the opposition’s actions in the Punjab Assembly during Friday’s budget session for the Fiscal Year 2025–2026, Khan stated at a press conference that “the right to protest is recognized, but its limits are subject to the constitution, law, and rules.”
The speaker, using the authority granted by Rule 210(3) of the Rules of Procedure 1997, issued an order on June 27.
