ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has designated Justice Sarfraz Dogar as the senior-most judge of the Islamabad High Court, who is now working as the chief justice of the IHC. This is the most recent move in the ongoing legal drama around the seniority problem and judicial transfers.
The Ministry of Law and Justice’s June 27 notification is consistent with the Supreme Court’s June 19 ruling, in which a five-member panel rejected arguments challenging the transfer of judges from three high courts to the IHC and declared it to be constitutional, allowing Justice Dogar to remain the IHC’s acting Chief Justice.
