ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the ongoing process of solarization, which is said to be the most cost-effective method of generating power globally, and stated that the government will not impede the country’s solarization boom.
Speaking at a Sunday launch event for the smart phone app “Apna Meter, Apni Reading,” created by the Ministry of Energy’s Power Division, he claimed that Pakistan is one of the few nations where the solarization process is proceeding quickly.
A 10% sales tax on the import of solar panel components has been approved by the federal government in the updated budget, down from the initial proposal of an 18% tax.
