According to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), security personnel killed two suspected terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on the outskirts of Peshawar late on Sunday night, preventing a massive terror assault.
The Shamshatoo neighborhood in the Urmar Payan neighborhood of the provincial capital, which formerly housed one of the biggest Afghan refugee camps, served as the site of the IBO.
The CTD claimed that the two suspects were preparing a major assault on a city target that was considered sensitive.
One of the suspects was a suicide bomber, according to officials, and the other served as his handler. For weeks, an operations team had been monitoring their whereabouts.
