KARACHI: To maintain security, the Sindh government has requested that mobile phone services be suspended throughout the province due to Youm-e-Ashura falling on Sunday, the 10th of Muharram.
In order to avoid any unfortunate situations, the Sindh Home Department has formally written to the Ministry of Interior, requesting that mobile internet connections be suspended along Ashura processions’ routes.
The department further requested that the Ministry of Interior make a decision in accordance with current procedures and notify the provincial authorities of the outcome.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee declared on Thursday that the moon of Moharram 1447 Hijri had been observed in the nation, and Ashura would fall on July 6 (Sunday), following several reports of moon sightings from all around the nation.
