The federal government refused to join Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s case in a US court or offer legal support, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) was notified on Monday.
In the presence of the petitioner’s attorney, Imran Shafiq, an extra attorney general, and other officials, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard a plea about Dr. Aafia’s health and repatriation from a US prison.
For more than 14 years, the Pakistani neuroscientist has been incarcerated in the United States.
The extra attorney general informed the IHC at the beginning of the session that the government had chosen not to join the Dr. Aafia lawsuit in the US.
