US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he hopes to reach a truce in Gaza soon and that he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next week to discuss the situation in Gaza and Iran.
Trump told reporters during a visit to Florida that he would be “very firm” with Netanyahu on the need for a swift ceasefire in Gaza, adding that Netanyahu also wants one. Trump is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu on Monday.
Ahead of the meeting, Ron Dermer, a prominent Israeli diplomat, has been in Washington this week for negotiations. According to an Israeli official, he was scheduled to meet with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and US special envoy Steve Witkoff on Tuesday.
