According to medical professionals and witnesses, an Israeli airstrike on Monday killed at least 20 Palestinians at a well-known waterfront cafe in western Gaza City that is regularly frequented by activists, journalists, and locals.
According to a spokesman for Gaza’s Hamas-run Civil Defense, rescue crews removed 20 bodies and numerous injuries from the Al-Baqa Cafeteria, an open-air space made up of tents along the shore.
Emergency personnel were still looking through a deep crater caused by the explosion, he added.
Later, the Israeli military announced it was investigating the incident and that it had hit “several Hamas terrorists” in northern Gaza.
