Five persons were killed when a Ugandan military helicopter crashed and caught fire at Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, near the main international airport.
The Ugandan military spokesperson, Maj Gen Felix Kulaigye, stated that the pilot, co-pilot, and flight engineer all survived with “serious injuries and severe burns” and that an inquiry into the crash’s cause was underway.
According to Farah Abdulle, an airport employee, “We heard the blast and saw smoke and flames over a helicopter. The smoke entirely covered the helicopter,” she told the agency Reuters.
Emergency workers at the Aden Adde International Airport swiftly put out the fire, according to Somalia’s state-run news agency.
