JAKARTA: Indonesia’s Search and Rescue agency reported Thursday that a ferry carrying 65 passengers sank close to the island of Bali, leaving four dead, 38 missing, and 23 survivors.
On its journey to Bali late on Wednesday, the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya sank around 30 minutes after departing the port of Banyuwangi in East Java province, the agency reported on Thursday.
According to the agency, the boat was transporting 22 vehicles, 12 crew members, and 53 passengers.
Strong winds and currents are impeding the ongoing search for the missing, the agency added.
