On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that he had directed the transfer of two nuclear submarines to the “appropriate regions” in reaction to Dmitry Medvedev’s threats.
“I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that,” Trump wrote on social media, labeling Medvedev’s remarks as extremely provocative.
He claimed that he gave the order to transfer the submarines “just in case these inflammatory and stupid statements are more than just that.”
Words have great power and frequently have unexpected repercussions. I’m hoping this won’t be one of those times.
