The State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) profit transfers and a huge increase in petroleum levy collections were the primary drivers of the federal government’s Rs1,998 billion earnings spike and substantial increase in non-tax revenue during the previous fiscal year.
Official records show that non-tax revenue increased significantly from the previous year to Rs4,959 billion in the fiscal year 2023–2024.
The petroleum levy alone brought in a record Rs1,220 billion, which was Rs201 billion more than the Rs1,019 billion received the year before.
The petroleum levy is expected to generate an additional Rs248 billion in revenue this year, according to the government’s even higher collections projection of Rs1,468 billion.
