KARACHI: On Thursday, a strong explosion tore through a store next to a firecracker warehouse on MA Jinnah Road, causing a huge fire and sporadic explosions in the vicinity, leaving at least five persons dead and 34 injured.
According to the Rescue spokeswoman, five people have now died after another body was found in the warehouse. Shahzad, 40, has been identified as the dead.
In addition to damaging adjacent vehicles and shattering windows of nearby structures, the blast’s extreme intensity caused a lot of smoke to float into the Lines Area.
Together with the firecracker warehouse, the ground-plus-two structure also contained stores for medical equipment. In order to prevent a more serious disaster, authorities indicated that flammable objects, such as oxygen cylinders, were being removed immediately.
