The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Thursday that mobile and data services had been restored in Quetta, Pishin, Chaman, and other cities in accordance with the rulings of the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
The development occurred as the BHC began hearing arguments in a lawsuit involving the province’s suspension of internet and mobile services.
Citing security concerns, authorities banned mobile internet access in the majority of Balochistan’s districts, including Quetta, the province capital, on August 6. The suspension was in place until August 31.
The Consumer Civil Society of Balochistan submitted a petition last week, claiming that the disruption had a negative impact on online education, made it impossible for businesses to operate, and made it difficult for travelers to communicate.
