KARACHI: As the dominant system over the north Arabian Sea continues to feed storm activity, several areas of Karachi experienced new monsoon showers on Thursday evening.
A number of Karachi locales, including Dalmia Road, Drigh Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gulistan-e-Johar, MA Jinnah Road, Orangi Town, Hawksbay, and Mubarak Village, recorded downpours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The city is currently experiencing a rain-bearing weather system, and sporadic showers are expected to persist into the evening and night, according to a Met Office representative.
In the last two days, the heavily populated port city has seen at least 17 fatalities due to torrential monsoon rains. Road accidents, electrocution, and drowning were the causes of death.
