The administration claims that it hopes to complete the exonerations by July 23, the day of the summer break.
The Horizon incident, which resulted in thousands of people being charged with theft and put through legal proceedings because of defective software created by Fujitsu, has been dubbed one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in British history.
The government declares that it would “quash all convictions which are identified as being in scope” in accordance with new legislation.
The minister for the post office stated that clearing guilty parties could be a “price worth paying” in order to protect the innocent.
The exonerations are scheduled to conclude “as soon as possible before the summer recess” on July 23.
