The 38-year-old British singer and her ex-husband Sam Cooper have two daughters: Ethel Mary, age 11, and Marnie Rose, age 9.
In response to a question about whether having children forced her to reconsider her job, Allen said, “Yes, my children ruined my career.”
Speaking on the Radio she continued, “I love them and they complete me, but in terms of popstardom, they totally ruined it.”
Allen, who is the daughter of film producer Alison Owen and actor Keith Allen, stated that she felt her own parents were “quite absent” from her upbringing and made the decision to step back from the spotlight in order to concentrate on raising her girls.
