Most of the labor that is performed in businesses across the world that isn’t specified in a job description is done by women.
The underappreciated and frequently invisible task of managing other people’s emotions is known as emotional labor. Rose Hackman, the author of a book on the topic due out in 2023, explains that “it’s not just the work that runs economies.” “Work is what keeps families and communities running. Manipulating the heart to influence clients, customers, passengers, and patients is known as emotional labor. It’s what gives an organization a sense of security, community, purpose, and belonging.”
It’s important, but it’s also demanding and frequently needed. The majority is women.
