Being the first former US president to be charged with a crime, Trump has created history.
He is charged with forging business documents and giving porn star Stormy Daniels hush money in an attempt to hide their alleged relationship.
As the first witness in the trial, David Pecker, the former head of publisher AMI, testified about his involvement in a “catch and kill” plot with Trump and Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen to suppress negative news coverage during the 2016 presidential campaign.
In addition, Manhattan’s criminal court heard Mr. Pecker characterize himself as Trump’s “eyes and ears” after he signed a “non-prosecution” agreement with prosecutors following AMI’s admission of paying hush money.
