Exclusive access to a subterranean hospital that is growing in capacity in case the ongoing violence gets much worse has been granted to News.
There are already 350 beds in a bunker beneath the Herzog Medical Center, and another 100 are on the way.
“We have an airlock that is built of two separate sets of blast doors because it’s built to withstand both biological and chemical attacks,” Dr. Yehezkel Caine explained to News as we entered the complex.
Beneath the current subterranean hospital, they have constructed an entirely new tier of wards, removing a logistical floor and adding extra beds and apparatus.
